Christmas 2012 already? This year has flown by! So without further ado . . Here’s our Christmas mantel! Most of it was stuff I had around the house but there are a few notable new pieces!
The 12 Days of Christmas print.
The pear tree on the left - a $1 thrift store find freshened up with some burlap ribbon.
The red door, the music note banner, the golden bird, wreath, paper house and small red ball ornaments came from the most charming store I have been to in a long long time. Everlasting Blooms I spent almost 2 hours looking around and then went back and looked around again. Really if you are in the West Michigan area – go!
The green tree, red heart, mercury tree, my Grandma’s miniature bibles in Dutch, the giant bell and the charlie brown tree I have had forever it seems. The silver stars are from Carol Roeda
Here’s the back story . . .
So I wasn’t sure what I was going to do this year for Christmas decorating. I knew I was ready for a change – but this time of year is so so busy that I decided early on to really get it together and make Christmas prints in the summer and have a big Christmas in July sale – which I did . . .
See Joy to the World and Hark the Herald Angels Sing? – 2 of my very favorite Christmas songs? BUT . . . when it came time to pick which one to put on our mantel this year . . I could not pick. I went back and forth. I love them both so much – but I felt like I would just decorate the mantel exactly the same way I did last year. Remember Oh Holy Night?
So. . .I did what any normal sane person would do
I started sketching. and planning something completely different. Something I hadn’t done before.
And there you have it . . 12 Days of Christmas. I feel like there’s alot going on with this – but I like it because other than the tree, the nativity sets and the stockings, the mantel is it this year. So its kind of a less is more, more is less kind of thing.
plus that – this song always makes me want to sing really loud and like opera for some reason
especially 5 Golden Rings what about you?
What’s your favorite Christmas song?
